Waynesboro is in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, between the
Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains in west-central Virginia near the
intersection of I-64 from the east and I-81 which goes
northeast-southwest through the valley. Waynesboro is a key
stopover for hikers on the Appalachian Trail. With the Augusta
County Fairgrounds nearby, Waynesboro is the site of many regional events
throughout the year, including the Augusta County Fair, the
Blue Ridge
Classic Soap Box
Derby (perhaps the largest regional Soap Box Derby events in the
country), the Annual Fly Fishing Tournament (on South River), Summer Extravaganza (a
weekend of events including fireworks at Ridgeview Park), the Fall Art Show
(converting downtown into an art fair which draws
artists from many states, and a Christmas parade (a parade
featuring many of our civic groups, clubs, and youth organizations,
including the Cadets from Fishburne Military School).
